Smoking

Our commitment as a smokefree campus and guidance for students wanting to quit.

As part of our commitment to a healthy and safe environment for everyone, UWE Bristol is a smoke free campus. This means that smoking and vaping is not allowed inside, or within ten metres of a university building.

If you wish to smoke or vape, you will need to move ten metres from university buildings.

About quitting

Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do to lower your risk of serious illnesses like heart disease, stroke and various cancers. Quitting, and even just cutting back, leads to improved circulation, reduced blood clots and better oxygen levels in the blood.

Get prepared

To help set yourself up for success, start by identifying your reasons for quitting and set a firm quit date. Recognise your triggers, whether it’s stress or certain social setting and plan healthy alternatives to help break the habit.

Most importantly, if you slip up, don’t give up. Learn from it and keep going – every smoke-free day is progress.
